The Delapaz Elementary School and Pook Elementary School, grades K - 6 are two elementary schools in the Delapaz Barangay. It is not the attempt of DEAWF to fix problems associated with bureaucratic red-tape, but to deal with the problem at the point where it impacts several hundred children and teachers. Several life times could be spent undoing the ingrained levels of corruption but we only have this life time to help these children.

The students wear a uniform that the parents must buy.  Most own two uniforms. There is no school bus system, so most students walk to school.  The distance to walk to school is measured in yards and miles.  The students with the furthest distance will sometimes travel on a passing Jeepney. (a vehicle based on the first elongated WW2 army jeeps that can carry 18 or more passengers)

The Barangay of Delapaz is located on the west coast of Batangas province.  A Barangay is the rough equivalent of a "County".  The barangay is headed by a Barangay Captain (county commissioner) who reports to the regional elected official.    The barangay captain is an elected official.  He is supported by a barangay council who are also elected.  In the end the Barangay Captain is responsible for the funds for the infrastructure projects of his/her barangay.

In the Province of Batangas, there are 1,080 Barangay and 32 municipalities. The Republic of the Philippines has 78 Provinces (States). Batangas province is further divided into four political districts, each having a representative in the Congress. The total population of the province of Batangas as of September 1, 1995 is 1,658,567.

*The term "Welfare" is used in the broader meaning and not the USA/Canada implication of "being on welfare". Welfare in used in the context of:  "health, happiness, prosperity, and well being in general" (Collins English Dictionary).  As the web crosses all boundaries and cultures, we apply the use of "Welfare" in the more universal application. Thanks, DEAWF.
